The Round Up: January 2025

Food:

  • On January 1st I made a delicious short rib and oxtail ragu and it was perfect for a hungover / lazy day. It stayed on the stove all day and was ready when I was ready to eat it!

  • We checked out Celeste in Somerville for some Peruvian food and it was out of this would delicious. We had the most amazing ceviches and raw fish, as well as a jumbo shrimp arepa and some glorious entrees. We actually didn’t order it, but the server brought us out a taste of the lamb entree and it was unreal. We will be back as soon as we can!!

  • We popped into Revival Cafe + Kitchen in north Cambridge for some coffee and breakfast and it was amazing. This was one of the most decadent breakfast sammies I have had in a while! I got the Salt-N-Pepa Sando and it was amazing.

  • We took our friends back to Moeca, which is our favorite Boston-area find so far. Everything is so delicious!

  • I also discovered Sophia’s Greek Pantry which is an incredible Greek grocery store that make their own Greek yogurt that is like nothing I have ever tried before. I bought some of the honey lemon yogurt but will be back (often) to try their other flavors. They also have some pre-made dips and I picked up some red pepper hummus, tapenade, and muhammara, which are all SO good. This is definitely going to be a place I swing by often.

  • I had the world’s biggest craving to Tex Mex and Mexico Lindo in Melrose really hit the spot. This place was POPPING on a random Saturday night in January - there were tons of people at the bar, and it was a good vibe. This is definitely a place we will be popping into…often.

  • This month I did something I had been meaning to do FOREVER, which is make chicken stock when I buy a rotisserie chicken. I now have some homemade and delish chicken stock in my freezer!

  • We went back to Puritan & Company but the highlight of our visit was stopping at Puritan Oyster Bar before our reservation. We had some oysters and some other bits on their bar menu that is very different than what you get next door. I loved sitting at the bar and ordering some cocktails and oysters.

  • We finally made it over to Field & Vine and it was really incredible. Their food is sharable and has some really fun and fresh combos. We were also super impressed with the ambience and the wine list. Field & Vine will def be falling into our rotation.

  • I made Molly Baz’s crispy chicken breast with bread salad and it was so easy and delicious. The radicchio and bread sort of gave me “winter panzanella” vibes.

  • We have found our new spot for take-out sushi in the Boston area and it is Ocean Sushi in Melrose. It is honestly so delicious, great fish quality and amazing value for money. I really loved the rolls I got and they were massive!

  • I bought the Celery Vinegar from Tart because Hailee Catalano talked about it and it truly lives up to the hype. It is tart and fresh and really delicious.

Other:

  • We watched both seasons of Shrinking this month and it was SO good. It is witty and heartfelt and we loved all the characters.

  • We have been thinking about adding a walking pad to our work-from-home set up for a while now and this month, we finally did it. So far, I love it! It is a great way to get my steps in while it is freezing outside and when I would be otherwise be sitting at my desk.

  • This month we went to London (wooo!!) you can read all about our trip here!

  • I am so happy with my purchases from the UK, I figured I would share. I have been drooling over this Alexa Chung x Barbour bomber jacket for a year and they have been sold out in the US - I walked into the first Barbour store I saw in London and they had it in my size. The cornflower blue hat was a find in a local boutique in Islington, I just loved the color and quality. And lastly, I have been on the hunt for new sneakers and while I love the Adidas Sambas, they are just way too narrow for my feet, so I found something a bit similar and way more comfy (for me) at Puma!
