Welcome to The Brisket Diaries

Hi there, and welcome to The Brisket Diaries!

I’m Gracie - writer, recipe experimenter, and enthusiastic eater behind this little corner of the internet. Originally from the Bay Area, I called Washington, DC home for nearly 13 years before moving to the Boston area. By day, I am a corporate recruiter at a management consulting firm. By night (and weekend, and whenever I get the chance), I am a self-taught home cook, dedicated hostess, and forever foodie.

My love for food started early - watching my dad cook for friends and family at home. But it wasn’t until I moved across the country for college that I really started cooking for myself. At American University, I was that person on the dorm floor with the full set of pots and pans. Eventually, I moved into an off-campus apartment where I started hosting dinner parties - nothing fancy, just friends, food, and a whole lot of learning.

Over the years, cooking has become my creative outlet and my way of staying to people, places, and flavors I love most. My cooking is influenced by a little bit of everything:

  • Growing up in Marin Country, CA, surrounded by farmer’s markets and seasonal produce

  • Studying abroad in Paris, where I fell hard for simple food done perfectly

  • My Jewish heritage, which comes with a rich tapestry of recipes, rituals, and stories

  • A lifelong love and admiration of Asian cuisine (I even had my Bat Mitzvah party in a dim sum restaurant in San Francisco!)

These days, you’ll find me browsing the aisles of specialty grocery stores, collecting cookbooks like they are rare treasures, and planning my weekends and travels around trying new foods and restaurants. This blog is my place to share my favorite recipes, restaurant finds, and the occasional food-fueled adventure.

Thanks for stopping by - I am so glad you are here, and I hope you stay a while!
