Eating DC: Grill from Ipanema

1.jpg

Grill from Ipanema is one of my favorite “under the radar” spots in DC. If you are looking for a place where only locals go, this is your spot. While there is nothing fancy about the restaurant, the food is outstanding, priced really well and the drinks (caipirinha) are amazing. If anything, just go for a caipirinha and some small appetizers.

Every time we go to Grill from Ipanema, we always order the fried yucca with sausage. It is the best appetizer and that alone is enough to make you want to go back. We have a few favorite favorite entrees that we switch between every time we go. Here is our list, in no particular order:

  • Frango ao Molho de Coco- grilled chicken breast in a coconut sauce, serted with coconut rice and vegetables

  • Pincanha Grelhada- grilled beef served with rice, black beans, a side (vegetables, collard greens, or French fries) and a vinaigrette sauce

  • Churrasco Misto- mixed grill (beef, chicken, sausage & pork), served with rice, black beans, vegetables, yucca and a vinaigrette sauce

  • Camaroes a Paulista- shrimp in an olive oil and garlic sauce, served with rice and vegetables

Grill from Ipanema is a great spot for a casual dinner with amazing food, and in a great neighborhood to walk around in before or after your meal.
