Eating in the hamptons

This summer, I had the honor to spend some time in The Hamptons over two separate weekends in June and July. Here are some of the things we ate / did and all of my food suggestions if you are planning a trip.

To me, The Hamptons are pretty close to perfect (minus the traffic) - you have the charm and landscape of the some of the most idyllic East Coast small, beachy towns mixed with the luxury and convenience of New York City. There is incredible shopping , fresh farm stands with the most outrageous produce, there are great beaches and amazing restaurants, both local and transplanted from the city.

Jack’s Stir Brew Coffee:

I always look forward to Jack’s when I go to The Hamptons. They have a few locations but my favorite one is in Amagansett. They have a lot of great options but my favorite is the Dirty Harry aka an iced vanilla latte.

Carissa’s Bakery:

Oh my god, can Carissa BAKE!!! If you take one thing away from this post, please go to Carissa’s when you are out east. There are a few locations (Sag Harbor, East Hampton, Amagasett, etc.) but everything is baked on site, which is incredibly impressive. They have one of the best ham and cheese croissants I have ever had and everything they make is incredible. I would recommend their loaves of sourdough, their croissants (ham and cheese, pan chocolate, and their almond croissant), as well as their jambon beurre sandwich. Their coffee is also delicious, and I particularly love the iced flat white.

Goldberg’s Famous Bagels:

There are also a few locations of Goldberg’s out East but you truly cannot go wrong if you are looking for a bagel sandwich or just a bagel spread. Their lox is delicious and perfectly sliced!

Tate’s Bake Shop:

If you are a Tate’s fan in general, then their bakeshop in South Hampton is a must-stop. There are so many variety of Tate’s, that personally, I cannot find in my local supermarket. I picked up some fun new flavors and also had a delicious iced latte there.

Rosie’s Amagansett:

We popped into Rosie’s for a brunch one morning and it was super delicious! The restaurant is very cute and fun, with great music playing and lot of disco balls everywhere. I got the chicken BLT for breakfast and it did not disappoint (could have done with a bit more mayo on the buns, but I am a mayo gal).

La Fondita:

La Fondita is just a small stop on Montauk Highway with outdoor seating only but it is a well worth it stop. I love their shrimp quesadilla and any sort of shrimp or fish tacos they have and everything is super fresh and delicious. This is a great place to go if you need a quick and casual lunch (or maybe to bring some tacos with you to the beach?).

Bostwick’s Chowder House:

My family has been going to Bostwick’s for yearrrrrs and it is still one of my favorite spots. Bostwick’s Chowder House is the more “homely” of the Bostwick’s, in my opinion. It is a bit more casual and hearty. I love their lobster rolls and lobster tacos and you cannot miss their peanut butter pie. I am not a PB lover, but this is delicious.

Bostwick’s on the Harbor:

Bostwick’s on the Harbor is Bostwick’s Chowder House’s bougie older brother. This location is bright and vibey and right on the water so the sunset it absolutely unreal. They offer some overlaps on the menu but I would say that this Bostwick’s menu is a bit more elevated. We had the whole lobsters, the stuffed clams and the steamers (which were a real highlight). They don’t take reservations but they have a great bar, so go early, put your name in, grab a drink and hang out!

Duryea’s Montauk:

Duryea’s is a Montauk establishment and you have probably seen their $97 lobster cobb salad all over your Instagram this summer, if your algorithm is anything like mine. Duryea’s does, in fact, live up to the hype. The vibe is ~chef’s kiss ~ and the food is also amazing. We got the stuffed clams, fried calamari (which was enough for 6 people) and lobster rolls. Everything was delicious and you can’t beat the view!

Tutto il Giorno:

We stopped in Tutto il Giorno for lunch in Sag Harbor one day and had a great meal! They do a lot of simple dishes really well. We had melon and prosciutto and a tomato salad to start, then I had a delicious zucchini pasta for my main. They also make an incredible chicken Milanese with a side salad. It is a great place to stop if you are shopping around Sag and want some Italian food.

Amber Waves:

I didn’t eat at Amber Waves but I did pick up some goodies to bring home, including some sun gold tomato sauce and it was really yummy when I did end up using it at home. I know you can grab lunch here, but if you are looking for some Hamptons goodies to bring home, this would be a great spot!
