The RoundUp: November 2021

November marks one year until I get married!! We also spent two weeks in November in Northern California (where I am from) and it was just a breath of fresh air, honestly!

Favorite Foodie Things:

  • I purchased a few bottle of wines from Reveler’s Hour a while back and one of my picks was this white lambrusco (lambrose bianc) and it was absolutely delicious!!

  • Early in November we hosted our first Friendsgiving and it was a great time/huge hit!! There are SO much food and everything was delicious! This will definitely be something that we will continue to do yearly! The menu included baked brie, roast chicken, French onion brisket, green beans, roast carrots, stuffing, mashed potatoes, butternut squash mac and cheese, gravy, pecan pie and apple pie.

  • We also had normal Thanksgiving with my family and it was nothing short of a feast!! We had a Momofuku recipe turkey, short ribs, mashed potatoes, sweet potato casserole, stuffing, green bean casserole, Brussel sprouts, quiches, salad, cranberry sauce and more! For dessert we had pumpkin coffee cake (a la Jake Cohen), apple pie (a la my friend Jordan), pecan pie, pecan maple cookies (a la Half Baked Harvest) and ginger cookies. Everything was absolutely unreal!

  • Hannukah also fell in November this year- with the first night of Hannukah falling on the Sunday after Thanksgiving. We had amazing latkes and all the toppings (apple sauce, sour cream and salmon roe!!).

  • Being home obviously means a stop at Original Joe’s- one of my favorite spots in SF’s North Beach!

  • Also being home means pit stops at my two favorite dim sum spots- Yank Sing and Hong Kong Lounge. No trip home is complete without multiple dim sum meals!

Other Things That Made Me Happy:

  • Big Mouth season 5 came out this month and it was just brilliant. Last season I felt like was a but odd but this season came back in the best way possible.

  • As mentioned above, we spent a lot of November in SF. Here are some scenes from some fun SF spots! We really lucked out on the weather. It has been absolutely perfect!!

  • We finally got to see our wedding venue! We booked this spot about a year ago without having seen it- thank you to my parents who facetimed us from their tour. It was so great to see it in person!!!

What’s up with Len?
