The Round Up: February 2025
Food:
When we were in London, I picked up some apple tea at Harrods and it is actually so delish. I love having tea as a semi sweet treat in the afternoon and this is such a nice flavor. It is a black tea with an apple flavor!
We kicked off February with an at-home sushi night with goodies from Maruichi Japanese Food & Deli. It is such a fun activity meal to have at home.
Since moving up to Boston, I found a “fish guy” and he has the most delicious seafood for such a good price. I got a swordfish steak and cut it in two, pan seared it, and served it with an arugula salad, with fennel, clementine oranges, parm, and olives!
Since moving up to Boston, I have experienced more cold and snow than I have in all of my 14 years living away from CA on the East Coast. I felt like we really needed some dilly chicken noodle soup this month to warm us up from the inside out!
I just had to include the cutest strawberry packaging I have ever seen in H Mart!
This month I watched Chef’s Table Noodles on Netflix and when I got to the Cambodian noodle episode, I needed it immediately. I did some research and it turns out there is a rather large Khmer population in Lowell, MA, so I tried Le Petit Cafe and it was delicious. They don’t have a website, but trust me, you are going to want to visit. We had the spring rolls, stuffed chicken wings and then we both got the Phnom Pehn Noodles. Everything was so delicious, I can’t wait to go back.
I picked up some fresh lobster meat from my “fish guy” this weekend and we decided to make lobster tacos inspired by Bostwick’s in East Hampton. We even made our own corn tortillas with my new Masienda tortilla press!
I bought this sweet sesame paste at a Persian market in Belmont a few weeks ago and I finally figured out what to do with them. I made some sweet tahini brownies and they were soooo delicious!
I didn’t snap any pictures but we checked out Bernadette in Salem, MA and it was delicious! My favorite things were the endive salad, pomme frites and the chicken! We will definitely be back and I want to try their sister restaurant, Settler.
We have been watching Chef’s Table BBQ and then, obviously, NEEDED BBQ immediately. After a bit of research, we found the Rusty Can in Byfield, MA and it was truly such a gem. I loved the smoked wings, collard greens and St. Louis pork ribs. This will definitely go on the casual dinner rotation.
Other:
If you are new here, hi, I am Gracie, and I am addicted to / love the Love Island franchise. I have been obsessed with the return of Love Island All Stars UK!
I found @dearbrookes on Instagram this month, and she is my new style inspiration. I love her styling of comfortable and chic clothes, with a bit of an oversized fit (which I prefer).
I finally bought Sophie Wyburd’s cookbook Tucking In and I am so excited to cook from it! I have been following Sophie on Instagram (both on her personal account and MOB Kitchen account). I love her unique flavors coupled with familiar and cozy recipes.
February means Valentine’s Day and I was so spoiled this year!! Definitely feeling the love!
We took a little drive up to Newburyport, MA and it was super cute! It was pretty freezing so we only did a quick walk through the downtown area but we both loved it and can’t wait to spend some more time up there when it gets a bit warmer.
I have been loving to the Waitrose podcast Dish. I love to listen to it and watch it on their Youtube channel but basically it is broadcaster Nick Grimshaw and chef Angela Hartnett hosting a guest for a meal. They chat about their career and food and it is just such a feel good show.
