Ingredients;

  • 1 cup (150 grams) of dark chocolate (chips or a cut up bar works)

  • 1/4 cup (1/2 of a stick) of unsalted butter

  • 1/4 cup of vegetable oil

  • 2 eggs & 1 egg white

  • 1/2 tsp of kosher salt

  • 2/3 cup of white sugar

  • 1/2 cup of brown sugar

  • 2 tbsp of water

  • 1 tsp of vanilla extract

  • 1/2 cup of cocoa powder

  • 1/2 cup & 2 tbsp sour dough starter

Preheat your oven to 375F and grease a cake pan or a 9 x 11 Pyrex pan.

In a small sauce pan add the chocolate pieces, butter and oil. Turn the heat on low and let the butter and chocolate melt, stirring occasionally. When the chocolate is nearly melted, turn the heat off and move to a medium bowl.

In another, large, bowl, mix your brown and white sugars and the eggs. Whisk with an electric hand mixer or stand mixer until the sugar is dissolved. Once the sugar and eggs are combined, add the vanilla extract and the water and mix well.

In the bowl with the melted chocolate, butter and oil, add in the cocoa powder and sourdough starter. Mix well so that the sourdough starter looks smooth and chocolaty.

Fold the chocolate mixer into the butter and egg mixer. Make sure the batter is well incorporated.

Pour the batter into your cake pan and bake for 30 minutes. Even when fully baked, the inside will still be gooey.

Let cool and serve with ice cream (optional).
