Everything We Ate in Paris - May 2023

Cafe du Clown

This cafe is located in the Saint-Germain Market and we absolutely loved it! It is a small space, so not great for groups but their coffee is delicious and their baked goods (I mean, look at that cookie!!) are amazing. Not to mention, they have a cafe Leonberger dog, so what’s not to like?!

Bouquet Saint-Paul

We stumbled into this aesthetic cafe in the Marais when we were looking for a cup of coffee and it turned out to be one of the most delicious cappuccinos we had in Paris. We actually went twice and the first time we went in the morning to have coffee and a croissant and the second time we went for an afternoon refresh and had coffee and carrot cake.

Le Dauphin

This spot is located within Place Dauphine, right near Pont Neuf. While this won’t blow your mind, if you are looking for a coffee and crepe break while in this area in Paris, it is a great place to stop!

Bisou

This cocktail bar cannot be missed. The whole concept here is that they don’t have a menu and will make you something based on what you like… aka the bar tenders are magicians. I said I love a Negroni and he made me the most delicious twist on a Negroni with some apricot liqueur.

Miznon

Miznon is a Paris staple and even though they now have locations in many major cities (Tel Aviv, London, NYC, etc) it is still such a treat to have in Paris. Miznon is Israeli owned and they do French-style food in Israeli pita. My favorites are the beef bourguignon, the minute steak and the lamb meatballs. The atmosphere is fun and exciting (picture a bunch of the staff singing to Israeli music). We went on a Friday afternoon before Shabbat and they were walking around with free shots of Arrack to ring in Shabbat.

Le Comptoir du Relais

This place has to be my favorite French lunch spot in all of Paris. It is located on the Left Bank by the Odeon Metro station. They serve rotating, seasonal, French classics for lunch and everything is delicious. Some personal favorites (if it is listed on the menu) is the foie gras and toast, the frisee salad with lardon and egg, the croque monsieur and the nicoise salad.

L’As du Falafel

This spot is another classic in Paris, at least for me, and something I crave regularly. L’As du Falafel is located in the heart of the Marais on Rue des Rosiers and is serving up some serious Israeli food. I recommend eating in if the line isn’t too long, but you can also take it to go an walk a few blocks over the Place Vosges and eat in the park. I LOVE their schnitzel in pita or platter form. I also love their shawarma pita and the minced meat hummus is unreal. Don’t forget to order a fresh lemonana (mint lemonade) to wash it all down.

Clamato

We went over to Clamato after we could not get into Septime and I loved it! It is owned by the same Septime restaurant group and it is a cozy seafood spot serving up some seriously delicious dishes. We got some French oysters, crab, ceviches, some veggie dishes and the fried fish with tartar sauce. We had the most lovely waitress and some delicious French orange wine. We loved this spot for a leisurely lunch!

Chez Mademoiselle

Chez Mademoiselle was a spot I found when I studied in Paris and I love that it is tucked away on a quiet, residential street in the Marais. They are great for an afternoon wine and snack or for dinner. Everything is cooked with love and while it is nothing fancy, it really hits the spot. If you are looking for a no fuss spot for a great French meal, this is your spot! We loved the burrata and the steak au poivre. Not to mention, their desserts are unreal.

AKE

Ake showed up on all of the “best restaurants in Paris” lists as I was doing my research for our trip and it truly did not disappoint. I loved everything we ordered (small plates, to share!) and it was so fun to have sake in a wine glass instead of wine. Our server was great and super helpful and we walked away so thrilled with our meal. I am sure their menu changes often but we loved the focaccia with the pea dip, the tomato salad and the gnocchi was really mind blowing.

Le Tagine

I love getting Moroccan food in Paris and this is my favorite spot! Le Tagine is located in a trendy neighborhood so many bar options to try before or after your meal. I love this place because it feels like you are getting a homecooked meal in someone’s home. Everything is so delicious and the staff is there to guide your journey. We loved the salade cuit to start, merguez couscous, the fig and honey chicken tagine and the cookie platter for dessert. Oh! And don’t miss the mint tea to round out your meal.

Dersou

Dersou was an absolute highlight of our trip. We went for our last dinner and Paris and it was just stunning. The place is cool and tucked away off a side street in a fun area, the staff is helpful and fun and the food and drinks were delicious. We did the 6 course tasting menu with the cocktail pairing and everything we loved. They are cooking with seasonal ingredients to create masterpiece combos of food and cocktails. Definitely do not miss Dersou!
