The RoundUp: September 2021
September FLEW by, I really cannot believe we are already in this part of the year. It was a busy and weird month for me- busy at work, and in life!
Favorite Foodie Things:
September brought the Jewish High Holidays (Rosh Hashana and Yom Kippur) which also meant a lot of cooking and a lot of Jewish food. I made some brisket, chopped liver, Mandelbrot, challah and some other dips.
My friends and I tried Reveler’s Hour (a DC restaurant) and we were so impressed with everything! We were so grateful they asked for ID and vax card at the door and the service was incredible (shout out to our server, Emily!). The space is cozy and has a great vibe, and of course, the food was incredible. Some highlights of our meal included the eggplant parm arancini, the corn ravioli and oh.my.god the garlic knots were out of this world. I also drank the most delicious wine I have had in a while- a Pinot Noir Blend, “Prosa”, Meinklang, Burgenland, Austria. It was very similar to a Lambrusco but so light and crisp.
If you have been following my blog, you know I was just in NYC and I had a DELICIOUS steak sandwich (that I will be dreaming of for the foreseeable future) from Boucherie. The sandwich is made with a French baguette, with medium rare slices of steak, a delicious mayo-based, and from frisee.
We are also probably very late to the DC food party here, but we recently tried SUNdeVICH for sandwiches, and oh my god, they are SO good. I love how every sandwich is named and built out for a specific city. We tried the Lima (right)- which was a clear winner- and the Rome, which was also amazing, but we LOVED the Lima.
I think this counts as a foodie thing, but in the same trip to New York, I bought some art from an artist in Soho who takes beautiful pictures of sliced produce. Check out his work here.
We recently discovered Organic Moo chocolate at Whole Food and, maaaan, is it good! we have tried a few flavors and they are all so delicious. I love the honey caramel and the milk chocolate with creamy milk!
Other Things That Made Me Happy:
We spent the majority of September in the Boston area and this time we actually went to Newbury Street and walked around/shopped and it was the first time we spent time in that area. I loved it! great to see another part of Boston!
I went wedding dress shopping in New York this month! You can read all about our weekend here. I am happy to report that I did, indeed, find a dress!
Parade undies!! I just ordered my first “universal thong” from Parade and they are dreamy! Highly recommend!
