The RoundUp: March 2022

Favorite Foodie Things:

  • I rediscovered my love for soft boiled eggs this month and put them on toast with a sh*t ton of herbs and it was just lovely! To make a super easy soft boiled egg, bring water to a boil, gently drop in your whole eggs, boil for about 7 minutes. Transfer to an ice bath, peel and serve!

  • I made some spicy lentils with sausage one week for dinner and they were super delicious. What I loved even more, was the day 2 leftovers, where I had the lentils with some sunny-side up eggs on top!!

  • My pre-ordered cook book “Korean American: Food That Tastes Like Home” by Eric Kim was finally delivered at the end of the month and I could not be more excited to start cooking the recipes from it.

  • This month Chiko did a pre-order on a dumpling tasting box so we definitely didn’t miss that! It came with five different kinds of dumplings (five of each) and two sauces. It was so delicious!! If you ever catch one of their special menus, you should definitely order it!

  • My favorite place in DC (Da Hong Pao) re-opened, so obviously we had to go! We took our friends that have never really experienced dim sum before and it was so fun to share that meal with them!

  • I mention this below, but we started semi-travelling for work again and we went to Philly in March, so obviously we had to get Philly Cheesesteaks. We did the classic Pat’s vs. Geno’s stand off and for me, Pat’s won that battle… by a landslide.

  • I went home in March (read more below) and for the Oscars, we made a nabe crab seafood situation and had a lot of sashimi at home. We went to the Tokyo Fish Market in Berkley and everything was so fresh and delicious. One of my favorite things is getting seafood while home.

  • Still on the “I went home” in March, there is no trip to the Bay Area without dim sum. We went to my favorite spot, Yank Sing and it was amazing, as always!

  • One day for lunch while I was in Marin, we got lunch at Sushi Ko in Larkspur and it was amazing! I have never been for lunch there, yet alone had not-sushi. It did not disappoint!!

Other Things That Made Me Happy:

  • The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel came back out this month and I don’t know why it took me four seasons to realize that Shirly Maisel and my grandmother are legitimately the same person.

  • I also started traveling for work a bit in March and it feels interesting/good to pick it back up! More trips for work in April, but I think it belongs in March because it started in May. I kicked off my work travel in March to Philadelphia which is a city I really love to visit!

  • Towards the end of the month I flew home to the Bay Area to go to one of my closest and oldest friend’s bridal shower. It was so much fun and I was so happy to be able to celebrate her!

  • Being home also meant family, but more specifically, sibling time!!
