The RoundUp: June 2022

We spend the majority of June in the Bay Area attending one of my oldest friend’s weddings and knocking off some of our to-do’s for our wedding!

Favorite Foodie Things:

  • I finally tried Bombay Street Food 3 Express this month and it was super super good and very well priced. My friend and I split the Bombay Palak Chaat (sooooo good, flavorful and refreshing), and then we split the veggie Thali and the meat Thali. I really loved everything and I cannot wait to go back. (Oh, and the mango lassi was unreal).

  • For Father’s Day we went to Bravas Bar de Tapas in Healdsburg and we got a lot of stuff and it was all very delicious!! It was fun to see fried chicken with Mumbo Sauce on the menu as I have never seen it outside of DC.

  • One night at home, we made a delicious shrimp taco meal with fresh shrimp from the farmer’s market and homemade corn tortillas, black beans, salsa verde and guac.

  • Mike’s Sourdough was one of my favorite lunch spots when I was in high school and I had totally forgotten about it until recently, so obviously we had to pick it up for lunch. Their sandwiches are simple but amazing. They make the sourdough loaves in house and also roast all of their meats in house. The ratio of this sandwich was just perfection and the bread is just amazing.

  • I saw Dave Chang and Chris Ying go to San Ho Won, so we had to go to San Ho Won and wow. What an experience. We ended up going for the set meal (prix fix) and it was so much food!!! The highlights for me were the grilled meat and the appetizers (steamed egg in spicy anchovy broth, kimchi, beef tartar) but literally everything was delicious.

  • We did our wedding cake tasting from Susie Cakes and it was so fun and we loved everything. The marble cake still reigns supreme.

  • One of our favorite things to do when we are home all together is a DIY sushi night. We get all of our fresh fish/seafood/pickles from the Tokyo Fish Market in Berkley and make our hand rolls at home. I love this style of eating- where you get to combine different flavors and textures.

  • I picked up a Beber Almond Milk from the Marin farmer’s market and tried out their matcha latte and really found it lovely!

  • We were so lucky to snag a Mister Jiu’s reservation for while we were home and it was the most delicious meal ever. There wasn’t much on the menu we did not order, but everything was truly amazing.

Other Things That Made Me Happy:

  • Minx on HBO Go is so so cute and everyone should watch it! It is very entertaining and easy to watch!

  • We finalized a lot of things for my upcoming bachelorette party, which felt super good to check off the list! I am really looking forward to it!

  • My childhood best friend got married one of the weekends we were in town and it was just the most beautiful celebration of their love! The wedding was that Vintners Inn & Resort in Santa Rosa and we had the best time ever!!

  • It was stupidly hot while we were in the Bay Area and one of the most boiling days, we took a friend’s boat out on the Bay. I have very rarely seen Marin/SF/the bridges from the water (aside from the ferry from Larkspur to SF) and it was such a treat!

  • I got to spend a lot of time with my family and favorite people in June, and that was a lovely way to start June off. Really recharged me!

  • Everyone must watch The Offer on Paramount- it is a whole show about the making of the Godfather movie and holy moly, it was so so good. I truly have no idea how they were able to cast everyone so perfectly.
