The RoundUp: February 2022
Food:
While Call Your Mother deli is not a new favorite, this bagel sandwich definitely is! CYM came out with a newish (new to me, not sure when they actually created it) bagel sandwich called the Thunderbird which is made with maple chicken sausage, bodega-style eggs, American and cheddar cheese, and spicy honey on a maple salt & pepper bagel. It. Is. Unreal.
February also meant that there was the Super Bowl which in my books, is just an excuse to get together with friends on a Sunday and cook! My friend’s and I put together a pretty unreal taco bar, complete with homemade tortillas, salsa, chicken tinga, carnitas, barbacoa and more! We had a great meal, and so much fun- also, don’t even get me started on the halftime show!
We also tried a new Half Baked Harvest recipe, One Skillet White Chicken Chili Bake which was super easy and really delicious. We made it in a Dutch oven, since we don’t have a cast iron skillet, and I will also say, this makes a TON of food. This recipe is great if you want a one pot meal and have a few people coming over for dinner!
We had one day in February where the weather was absolutely perfect- I am talking 65F degrees and we decided to not waste the weather and booked a dinner outside! We decided to go to one of our favorite spots, Zeppelin for some sushi on their patio. It was delicious!
We spent the 2nd half of the month of February up in Boston with family and of course, we had to pick up bagels from one of our favorite spots in Cambridge, Mamaleh’s. I tried a new bagel sandwich called The Lastnamer which has kippered salmon, scallion cream cheese, and cucumber (I subbed tomato). It was soooo good and I absolutely prefer kippered salmon over lox, ANY DAY.
Other Things:
I think I wrote this in my last month’s post, but I am feeling so grateful and fulfilled in my friend life/social life at the moment. It has been a while since I felt “settled” in the friend department so this feels super good. I feel like I am starting to make adult friends, friends where we have similar interests and values vs. situational friendships.
In February, some of our friend’s got married in New Orleans and we had such a fun time! Check out our whole trip here. The food was great, the friends were great, and the music was the best. I didn’t crap out once on the dance floor!
Our dear dear friend's also got a puppy (mini Bernedoodle) this month and he is the cutest thing in the whole world.
