greek-style meatballs

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb of ground beef

  • 3 cloves of garlic; minced

  • 1/2 red onion; finely chopped

  • 1/4 cup panko breadcrumbs

  • 1/4 cup of parsley; finely chopped

  • 1 tbsp of mint; finely chopped

  • 1/2 tsp of dried dill

  • 1/2 tsp of dried oregano

  • 1/2 tsp salt

  • 1/2 tsp ground pepper

  • 2 tsp of Dijon mustard

  • 2 tbsp of water

  • 2 tsp of AP flour

  • 4 tbsp neutral oil for frying

Other:

  • Frozen or freshly made French fries; cooked according to the package

  • Side of Greek salad

  • Optional: serve each plate with a generous scoop of hummus and tzatziki

Preheat the oven to 400F,

In a mixing bowl, mix together the ground beef, minced garlic, red onion, panko, parsley, mint, dried dill, dried oregano, salt, pepper, Dijon mustard and water. Using your hands, mix it all together until you have a paste-like consistency.

Roll the meat into small meatballs, about the size of a golf ball, placing them back in the bowl as you make them.

When all of the balls are created, sprinkle in the AP flour and roll them around so they are fully covered in the flour.

In a pan that can go in the oven, heat up the 4 tbsp of neutral oil.

Add in all of the meatballs and cook for about 4 minutes on each side, or until they start to get golden brown.

Once the meatballs are golden brown, pop the whole pan in the oven for about 5-7 minutes.

Serve warm with a side of fries (or tots), Greek salad, pickles, and all the dips. You could also serve this on some rice with salad, or in a pita or wrap!
