Baklava Rice Krispies

This recipe is based off of @saturdaytable’s on Instagram. I adjusted the seasoning to my taste.

Ingredients:

  • 2 sticks of unsalted butter

  • 2 bags of marshmallows

  • 1 tsp of orange blossom water

  • 1 tsp of cinnamon

  • 1 tsp of kosher salt

  • 8 cups of Rice Krispies cereal

  • 1/3 cup of pistachios; chopped

  • 1 cup of pecans; chopped

Prepare a 9 x 13 casserole dish with parchment paper and set aside.

In a large pot, melt your butter over low heat and cook until it starts to brown. Be sure to watch the butter as it starts to get brown and frothy so it does not burn.

Turn the heat all the way down and stir in your marshmallows. Stir continuously until they are about 80% melted. Cut the heat and add in the orange blossom water, cinnamon, and kosher salt. Mix everything well.

Add in the Rice Krispies, as well as the pistachios and pecans. Mix everything together well so that all of the Rice Krispies are fully coated in the marshmallow mixture.

Pour the mixture into your prepared casserole dish. Wet your hands lightly and using your hands, press the mixture into the pan so it is evenly spread out.

Let it sit at room temp, uncovered in the pan for about 30 minutes and then pull out the parchment paper so that everything pops out of the dish. Using a wet knife, slice the Rice Krispies into squares of your preference. Leave at room temp and uncovered (or wrapped in plastic wrap) until you are ready to serve.
